Since its inception
in March 1995, DPMF has carried out important activities aimed at
consolidating and institutionalizing democracy in Africa by focussing
on enhancing the institutional capacity of the policy management process
in African countries. It targets its activities on three critical
groups policy makers and implementers (politicians and senior civil
servants), civil society groups concerned with the consolidation of
democracy and governance in Africa, and national civil servants training
institutes and researchers (from universities, think tanks and consultancies).
More recently DPMF has extended its activities to the area of conflicts,
their management, resolution and particularly the post conflict reconstruction
process. Its activities are focussed on sensitization workshops (both
regional and national), on facilitating and supporting national policy
forums, on research, on publications and information service. At the
same time DPMF has created and is expanding a pan-African network
of concerned individuals and institutions who want to enhance the
